Forskot með fjölbreytileika

Föstudaginn 25. apríl standa jafnréttisnefnd Háskóla Íslands,
jafnréttisnefnd Kennaraháskóla Íslands og Rannsóknastofa í kvenna- og
kynjafræðum við Háskóla Íslands fyrir málþingi um jafnrétti í breiðum
grundvelli, með yfirskriftinni „Forskot með fjölbreytileika".

Fjallað verður um jafnréttismál frá ýmsum sjónarhornum, og er markmiðið að
skapa samræðu milli fræðafólks í báðum skólum, nemenda, stjórnsýslu, og
annarra sem áhuga hafa á jafnréttismálum. Það er stefna Háskóla Íslands að
vera ávallt í fararbroddi í jafnréttismálum og liður í því er að skapa og
viðhalda umræðu um kynja- og jafnréttismál með margvíslegum hætti.

Á málþinginu verður fjallað um ýmsar þær spurningar sem máli skipta fyrir
menntastofnanir sem vilja leggja áherslu á jafnréttismál í sínu starfi og
skapa samfélag fjölbreytileikans innan sinna veggja. Þetta verður gert með
umræðum í vinnustofum, erindum og pallborðsumræðum.

Kristín Ingólfsdóttir rektor mun setja málþingið og síðan flytja erindi þau
Jón Atli Benediktsson, prófessor í verkfræði og þróunarstjóri HÍ, Ólafur
Páll Jónsson, lektor í heimspeki og formaður jafnréttisnefndar KHÍ, og
Rannveig Traustadóttir, prófessor og forstöðumaður rannsóknaseturs í
fötlunarfræðum. Fundarstjóri verður Brynhildur Flóvenz, lektor í lögfræði og
formaður jafnréttisnefndar HÍ.

Fjórar vinnustofur, þar sem jafnréttismál verða rædd frá ýmsum hliðum, verða
í boði og er allt áhugafólk um jafnréttismál hvatt til að taka þar þátt.
Málþinginu lýkur með pallborðsumræðum, en í pallborði verða fulltrúar úr
röðum fræðafólks, stjórnsýslu HÍ, nemenda og Jafnréttisstofu.

Málþingið verður í Öskju og hefst það kl. 13 og lýkur með móttöku kl. 17.

Equality and Diversity: A Symposium

On Friday the 25th of April a symposium on equality and diversity will take
place at the University of Iceland. The symposium is hosted by the
University of Iceland (HÍ) Equal Rights Committee, the Iceland University of
Education (KHÍ) Equal Rights Committee, and the Centre for Women's and
Gender Studies at the University of Iceland (RIKK).

We will discuss equality from various vantage points, and the aim is to
create a dialogue between scholars, students, administrative staff and
others interested in equality issues. This summer, the two universities (HÍ
and KHÍ) will be united into one University, and at the same time we will
see changes in the structure of the University as a whole, so now is a good
time to discuss the challenges facing equality in the University and the
opportunities that lie ahead.

The Rector of the University of Iceland, Kristín Ingólfsdóttir, will open
the symposium. Three talks will be given, followed by four workshops, each
exploring equality from a different angle, and the symposium will end with a
panel discussion where scholars, administrative staff, students and a
representative from the Centre for Gender Equality, will take part.

The symposium will be held in Askja, the Natural Sciences Building at HÍ (a
map can be found at www.hi.is/page/stortkort), starting at 1 pm and ending
with a reception at 5 pm.

Please note that talks and discussions will take place in Icelandic.
